Launches National Dialogue on Mental Health—Creating Community Solutions

National Dialogue on Mental Health

President Barack Obama called a National Conference on Mental Health at the White House in June 2013, as part of the Administration’s effort to launch a national conversation to increase understanding and awareness of mental health. The National Institute for Civil Discourse was one of the organizations tasked with engaging citizens and maintaining an informational website to help promote meaningful community dialogues on creating solutions for mental health issues.

These dialogues aim to foster partnerships between the public and mental health professionals, law enforcement, schools and other professionals in order to create innovative local community-based solutions.

The goal of Colorado’s Creating Community Solutions program (CCS) is to involve thousands of citizens through local meetings, social media and live broadcasts to identify, prioritize and develop mental health action plans around the state by June, 2014.
